Our Story

How Tiang Law came to be

Tiang Law was founded with one straightforward aim: to offer people facing pension difficulties a place to turn that felt dependable rather than daunting. The firm grew from a recognition that pension matters — however technical they appear — are deeply personal. They touch on decades of contributions, on expectations carefully built over a working life, and on the security that retirees and those approaching retirement have every right to expect.

From offices in Vista Tower, Kuala Lumpur, our team handles pension records reviews, appeals with the Employees Provident Fund (EPF/KWSP), government pension boards, and related retirement authorities. We work in a measured, organised way — assembling evidence, managing correspondence, and keeping our clients informed in terms they can follow without a legal background.

Over the years we have helped clients recover missing contributions, pursue reduced or delayed pension payments, and untangle discrepancies that had gone unnoticed for years. Each matter is treated carefully, and each client is kept informed at every stage.

Our Mission

What guides our work

Transparency first

We tell clients what we see in their records, what options are available, and what each path is likely to involve. No surprises, no ambiguity.

Respect for the client

Decisions remain with the person who will live with them. Our role is to provide clear information and steady support, not to push or press for a particular course of action.

Confidentiality without exception

Pension matters involve sensitive financial records. We treat every document and every conversation with strict legal professional privilege.

Standards & Approach

How we maintain quality across every matter

Our professional standards are not incidental — they shape how we work with every client, from the first enquiry to the final written update.

Bar Council Membership

All legal professionals at Tiang Law are members in good standing with the Malaysian Bar, practising under the Legal Profession Act 1976.

Data & Record Handling

Client records are managed under legal professional privilege and in compliance with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. No document is shared without explicit instruction.

Written Engagement Terms

Every engagement begins with a clear written agreement outlining scope, fees, and expectations — so there is no ambiguity about what has been agreed.

Regular Client Updates

We maintain a structured update schedule for ongoing matters, ensuring clients are never left uncertain about the status of their case.

Independent File Review

Significant submissions and assessments go through an internal review before being finalised, reducing errors and ensuring consistency in quality.

Ethical Conduct

We follow the Solicitors' Practice Rules and the Malaysian Bar's code of professional conduct in all client dealings, without exception.

Our Practice

Pension law in Malaysia — a practice area that requires patience and precision

Malaysia operates several distinct pension and retirement fund structures, including the Employees Provident Fund (KWSP/EPF), the Armed Forces Fund (LTAT), civil service pension arrangements administered by the Pensions Division of the Public Service Department, and various private occupational schemes. Each has its own rules for contribution, entitlement, appeal, and dispute resolution — which means that navigating a problem in one scheme can look quite different from a problem in another.

At Tiang Law, we work across all of these structures. Our lawyers understand the relevant legislation and the administrative processes involved, and they follow changes and developments in pension administration closely. When a client comes to us with a concern — whether it is a missing employer contribution, a delayed payment, or a decision they believe was made in error — we look at the particular facts with care rather than applying a standard script.

We are based in the Intermark development on Jalan Tun Razak, close to the city centre and accessible by public transport. Clients come from across the Klang Valley and from other parts of Malaysia for remote consultations. Our working language is English, though we are happy to work with interpreters where needed. Whatever the language, we prioritise clarity — over technical correctness, over impressive-sounding reasoning, over anything that puts unnecessary distance between us and the person we are there to assist.

A conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

If you have a question about your pension entitlements or a concern you would like someone to look at, we are happy to listen. Reach out at your own pace.
